Oh my gourd, plants!
Plants 101
Whether your favorite plants are cute little succulents in your window, big dracaena’s in your living room, or you don’t have many plants in your house - it’s fun and easy to start and/or maintain your indoor jungle! In this blog post I’ll talk about some plants to keep in your house that not only look pretty but do great things for your home as well. (Bonus!!)
Some of my favorite plants are the plants that look awesome in your home AND oxidize the air! Did you know…
Sansevieria, commonly known as snake plants, not only purify your air but also absorb pollutants in the air through their leaves! COOL! I have this plant next to my bed, right above my head! This plant was gifted to me by my dear friend, and it reminds me of her every time I look at it :)
Dracaena plants are a wide variety of plants that help clean and oxidize the air as well! In my home I have a ponytail palm tree, which looks tropical and grows like crazy! And I have a corn plant, which was gifted to me by my boyfriend, Alec :) It was once very dry with brown leaves but I have boastfully brought it back to life! (Humble brag…humble brag). Side note, these corn plants can actually blossom flowers during certain months which is AWESOME! These are the only plants that I do fertilize once a month with a watering. Every time I have bought one - it suggests that you do so! But I know plenty of people who do not fertilize their dracaena’s and they are still thriving.
Jade plants can also help clean and oxidize air, not to mention they are almost impossible to kill. So a super easy plant for those that have a busy schedule or just straight up don’t remember.. I’m not judging - we’ve all been there!
And lastly, I just recently stumbled upon the fact that aloe vera cleans and purifies the air as well. SWEET! Not to mention that you can use aloe as a moisturizer and some people even use the slimey part of the aloe to mix in their smoothies! (Note, ask a dietitian or health care provider before doing so).
Now go out and buy plants, talk to them, and let them work their magic and clean your air! Just remember, some plants can be dangerous to our furry friends so make sure you know which ones are fine low to the ground or need to stay higher up.
